Sheila Phicil, MPH, MS, MP, FACHE
EXPERIENCE:
Sheila Phicil is a social change futurist™, health equity expert, and social impact startup founder. Sheila brings over 15 years of experience in healthcare, driving transformative change in policy, strategy, and operations across institutions like Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the Veterans Health Administration. Previously, she served as the Director of Innovation for Boston Medical Center’s (BMC) Health Equity Accelerator, where she led initiatives to advance racial health equity, address social determinants of health, and implement AI-driven solutions to enhance healthcare delivery. As a first-generation Haitian American, Sheila’s personal journey deeply influences her work, blending lived experience with professional expertise. She is driven to create human-centered solutions, understanding that every system is perfectly designed to produce the results it gets, and aims to drive sustainable change.
EDUCATION:
Sheila holds dual Master’s degrees in Public Health (MPH) and Financial Economics (MS), is a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), and a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE). She has been recognized for her leadership in health equity, receiving the Boston Medical Center (BMC) Leadership Impact Award in 2020, and was selected for the Massachusetts Health Leadership College fellowship in 2022 as an emerging leader in healthcare.
MISSION:
As the CEO and Founder of Phicil-itate Change LLC, Sheila’s mission is to empower social innovators and changemakers to create measurable, lasting impact. Leveraging her extensive background in healthcare and innovation, Sheila has developed a unique framework based on three core pillars: systems-based strategy for innovative solutions, AI- and tech-driven operations to optimize efficiency, and equitable design to ensure inclusivity. Her advisory services include 1:1 coaching, consulting, facilitation, and courses tailored to the needs of mission-driven leaders. Beyond advisory, Sheila is also cultivating a thriving community of social innovators, providing a collaborative space for sharing insights, resources, and support to drive social change.
Phicil-itate Change is also incubating the COMPASS Project, a blockchain- and AI-enabled social listening platform that provides real-time insights to support deep understanding of the patient journey. The COMPASS Project aims to help health care technology companies achieve product-market fit by designing patient-centered solutions that build trust and meet real patient needs. The COMPASS Project was selected for the highly competitive Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) Social Impact Cohort in Fall 2024, recognizing its potential to revolutionize patient-centered healthcare solutions.
